October 21 & 22, 2022
The Hillsboro Church of Christ is the hosting congregation for the
26th Annual Operation Ecuador Summit, to take place on October 21-22, 2022.
History
The Operation Ecuador Summit has occurred annually since 1996 (with the exception of the year 2020 due to the Covid pandemic). The very first year, it was held in Quito, Ecuador during the Pan American Lectureship. Every Summit since then has taken place in the United States. The responsibility for hosting the Summit rotates each year to a different church that is connected in a supporting role to one of the ministries of Operation Ecuador. Churches of Christ in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Tennessee, Alabama, Washington, Nebraska, and Michigan have all taken turns hosting the Summit through the years.
The Summit is a time for the missionaries of Operation Ecuador to report on their efforts and progress to those churches and individuals who support them. More than that, it is a time for supporters to see how the various ministries — the Quito School of Biblical Studies and its various church plants, Camp Bellevue, and the Kumanii jungle mission — are inter-connected and work together to advance the Kingdom of God throughout the country of Ecuador. Just as Operation Ecuador is a collaborative effort of various mission efforts, many different congregations throughout North America collaborate, not only to support their ministries but also to encourage their work and celebrate their success through the Summit. This alliance is a remarkable example for the brotherhood of churches of Christ and for missions in general.
