- Dustin Whittington left Sunday for boot camp at Fort Benning in Georgia.
- Jerad Frazier left yesterday for Camp LeJeune in North Carolina.
- Attention parents of 5th graders!!! Your child will be performing tomorrow evening in their DRAMA class. Please join this talented group on the 3rd floor at 7:50 to see this performance.
- Ladies’ Retreat is one month from today at the beautiful Deer Run Retreat Center! The theme comes from John Ortberg’s book, When the Game is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box. Watch for details and sign-up to begin in the next few days.
Family Updates:
- Please keep James and Mary Jane Ward in your prayers as James was recently diagnosed with cancer and is under the care of his oncologist.
- George Austin was released from the hospital yesterday.
- Sympathy is extended to the family of Clyde Bartlett who passed away Sunday morning. There will be a memorial service at 10:00 am this Saturday, January 10, in the Hillsboro chapel.
- Sympathy is extended to Linda and Mike Craton in the loss of Linda’s father, Horace Muncher, last Thursday, January 1. The funeral service was held Saturday in Jacksonville, AL. Condolences are also offered to grandson Colby (Elaine) Craton and great-grandchildren Cara and Cooper.
Upcoming Events:
- Thursday morning ladies’ Bible class will not meet this Thursday. The first class for 2009 will be Thursday, January 22, 10:00 am in the fellowship hall. The small group study will be on 1, 2, and 3 John.
- Baby Shower for Mary Hesselrode is this Sunday, January 11, 4:00 – 5:30 pm in the fellowship hall. Selections are at Pottery Barn Kids, Babies “R” Us and Target.
- Girls’ Night Out is scheduled for Sunday evening, January 11, at the home of Deborah Waugh. This event is for girls from college through young at heart and chili will be provided. Sign up in Bible class on Wednesday and Sunday or contact Deborah Waugh at dwaugh@hillsboro.org.
- Room in the Inn needs:
- Travel-size shampoo and toothpaste, disposable razors, and socks
