I thank my God that Hillsboro Church of Christ is the sponsoring congregation for Alex and Eleni Melirrytos. These precious servants are working diligently to honor God and uphold their commitments to your congregation. Eleni asked me to forward my report to you and I thought that I would also share with you my love for Alex and Eleni. Eleni and I became friends in 2003 and we have stayed in touch through the past few years.
As you know, leading a group of people can sometimes be as frustrating as it is rewarding. Eleni works hard to have involvement from all the women to make the conference a success. This year, God provided my mother, aunt and sister who journeyed with me to be of help in preparing the last minute projects. Through prayer and planning, Eleni and I worked together to overcome some of these frustrations in executing all the details of the Philadelphia conference. The biggest hurdle and greatest need at an event like this is to be able to communicate to the women of every language… Greek, Russian, Bulgarian and English. It takes a lot of thought and preparation to have all scriptures, songs and presentations understood at the same time. We used Harding University ’s mono-channel headsets with an interpreter for the English during one session, the Russian-Bulgarian in another session and Greek in another session. This took a lot of time and interrupted the flow of the day to have to pass them around before each session. But what a blessing that we have the Holy Spirit to help us in all this!!! Things went well and we were able to offer the love of God to each woman. It is my prayer that by joining hands, the people at Hillsboro and Richland Hills will raise the funds needed to purchase a multi-channel system to use for the occassions where the combined churches at Omonia meet together. We are indeed blessed here in only having one language for events!!! Please feel free to call me about any of this.
Alex and Eleni also showed us great love and hospitality though driving us from/to the airport and around town as well as going with us on the one-day cruise. They serve honorably and always work to put others first. I praise my God that they are there working to serve God in their country and I long to be with them. However, I really noticed upon my return this time that I am very blessed to live, work and worship in a spiritually rich land. My prayers are with Alex, Eleni and the Omonia church… and with you all for your wisdom and direction.
