Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’
Matthew 11:28-29
Welcome to our services this morning and we hope that you will find rest for your souls in the short time that we share our worship together. A special welcome to Bruce Cheshire who is visiting us today from the USA. We have several of our young people away at the Morley Youth Weekend. They will be returning this evening.
News and Notes
June Wills is away with family this weekend. June brought her great grandaughter to coffee morning. Lily May is beautiful and is doing well. Ron and Jan Hacker are back in the States for a short visit, they should be back next week. Although Ken is back at some services he is still struggling to get back to his normal health. Please remember Christine Daniell, she too is struggling with her health which stems from the illness she had whilst on holiday in Australia . She is due to see the consultant again this week. It was good to see Thandi and Johanna back from their long holiday to South Africa. Johanna had the whole of the school break out there but Thandi just a few weeks.
Joyce’s daughter, Mary has had trouble with her hip and has been in hospital recently. There are some ink cartridges on the table at the back, if they fit your printer, please help yourself to them. We received a note of hello from Rebecca Cleere via Leanne.
She has just come back from a round the world trip which took 6 months. She is now back at home and is going back to university for 5 years to study medicine. She sends her love to everyone in Bristol. Rebecca was a member here for a short while a few years ago.
Heidi and Jason leave for their trip to the States on Friday this week, they are going to report to their supporting congregations and will be back on October 2.
Trevor has a neighbor’s funeral to take tomorrow afternoon and Jason is taking the ladies class at Knowle West Baptist Church.
Dates of next planning meetings are October 11 and November 8.

New rotas
The plan for the men serving the church on Sundays is coming to an end and so is the cleaning rota. Can the men please give Trevor the dates you will be away and if there are any dates that you can not clean or want to change those with whom you work please talk to Pauline by next Sunday.
October 13
There will be Open House at Trevor and Pauline’s during the afternoon and evening on this day. Since they will not be around at Christmas they want you to come and share some time with them before they leave for their trip.
Also on October 13 we will be having a visit of about 10 young people from the congregation in Northampton . David
Walker is taking the 6 – 12 year olds to visit different congregations to see how they conduct their worship services and to meet some different people. Because we are so far from Northampton it will entail an overnight stay, so on Saturday there will be an activity and time with our young people and on Sunday they will join us for our Bible Class and Worship time. Following this there will be a fellowship meal for everyone. So please mark these dates in your diaries.
Coffee time
Our coffee morning was started a long time ago now and it has proved to be a link, introducing people to the church and its people. Many of our members attended the coffee morning first and met someone that they became friends with, someone that they felt comfortable talking to and someone who took an interest in them. This very often then led on to them coming to a service on Sunday and they already had someone to look for or to bring them and to sit with. Our coffee mornings are still a source of encouragement to new visitors and we do get people dropping in from time to time, so we need your presence to swell the numbers of regular people in attendance. We have had a lot of weeks when several have been away on holiday but we hope that you will come again on Thursday mornings from 10 to 11. It is very informal and time is given to chat to one another over a cup or tea or coffee and then there is a short devotional thought and prayer before we all leave.
